BALAST SUYU ARITIM SİSTEMLERİNDE MEVCUT DURUM

Uluslararası nakliyecilikte deniz taşımacılığının önem kazanması ile birlikte balast suyu kaynaklı sorunlar artmaktadır. Gemilerin balast tanklarına alınan balast suyu ile her gün yaklaşık 7.000 canlı türü farklı ekosistemlere taşınmaktadır. Bu canlıların bir kısmı balast tanklarındaki koşullara karşı dayanıklı olup, geminin sefer süresi boyunca hayatta kalabilmektedirler. Hayatta kalmayı başarabilen canlılar girdikleri yeni ekosistemlerde ekoloji, ekonomi ve insan sağlığı üzerinde tehditler oluşturmaktadırlar. Balast suyunda taşınan organizmalardan kaynaklı problemleri önlemek için mekanik, fiziksel ve kimyasal balast suyu arıtma sistemleri geliştirilmiştir
